Sean and I had a relaxing afternoon walking along the gorgeous grounds of the Pioneer Museum and Colonial Village just outside Dade city, Florida. "I" never expected to learn so much about the pioneer life. Sean is a wonderful source of information as we're walking around because he loves history- and always has additional historical facts.

The Family Homestead really stood out as a grand structure. Being that it was built during the civil war, it's incredibly maintained and beautiful to see.

The original organ to the pioneer village church, was built meticulously well. The organ's ornate design is beautifully handcrafted and I would have loved to hear it play. It definitely served as a focal point upon entering the church.

I have never seen a printing press such as this before in my life. This machine had so many different parts and pieces, you would think it was going to the moon! It's hard to imagine that a person would sit at that keyboard .....and a newspaper would come out. Simply spectacular!
In short, the Pioneer Museum and Colonial Village offers a wonderful afternoon outing. Our two-hour visit allowed us to explore all the buildings and gain insights into their history. The train station and schoolhouse were personal highlights. This is an especially valuable experience for children learning about history, providing a tangible glimpse into life during the Civil War era and beyond.
