ROMA, ITALIA (PART 2)

Another gorgeous part of Italy, just outside Rome, and part of our tour of Pompeii, is the Amalfi Coast.

This breathtaking scenic route along the Italian coastline is perfect for pictures and daydreaming.......

You can stop at any one of the adorable cities along this coast- Sorrento, Positano, Almafi, etc. There are 14 towns in all. Each one has it's own special place along the mountainside. The winding road will tell you exactly where you are, as the twists and turns of this traffic will keep you on your toes! This route is not for the faint of heart! PLEASE go with an experienced driver who knows how to navigate these roadways. The Italians thank you.

And finally, the last day trip we had planned was to the island of Ponza. And you DO need a full day for this trip from Rome. (Viator tickets again come in VERY handy for this trip as the bus tour will take you from the meeting point, to the ferry, and onto the ship for cruising Ponza island.)

Ponza island is about a 1 hour ferry ride off the coast of Italy. It's a popular weekend destination for Romans looking to get away from the city hustle and bustle. Ponza island offers relaxation, sunshine, crystal clear waters, and lots of snorkeling. We experienced those same things on our tour- it was absolute perfection! I'd highly recommend, if you're visiting Rome, to take a day trip to the coast. You certainly won't go home with any bad pictures!
